Pūrgo is a high-volume FDA certified air sterilizer, utilizing powerful UV light in a patented "Steriduct" to achieve a 4log kill of pathogens in a matter of minutes. At the core of the Pūrgo lies a fusion of innovative technologies designed to deliver unparalleled air sterilization. The novel Steriduct technology, designed with 99.5% reflective surfaces, efficiently bounces UV light rays to flood passing air with maximum radiation, tearing apart pathogens in milliseconds. This innovative approach, coupled with a high-capacity HEPA filter and VOC pre-filter, ensures comprehensive elimination of airborne contaminants, including bacteria, viruses, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Bringing the Pūrgo to fruition presented a myriad of technical challenges, from achieving high airflow and containing potentially harmful UV light to reducing noise levels and streamlining the manufacturing process. Our team partnered closely with AeroClean to navigate these challenges, employing a holistic approach to concept development and design refinement.
High Airflow Design: The Pūrgo boasts the highest airflow for a standalone medical-grade air sterilizer, ensuring rapid and efficient purification of large spaces.
UV Light Containment: Rigorous engineering and design considerations were implemented to contain UV light within the Pūrgo unit, ensuring safety without compromising efficacy.
Noise Reduction: Innovative noise reduction techniques were incorporated to minimize operational noise levels, creating a quiet and unobtrusive environment for healthcare settings.
Simplified Maintenance: The easy-to-use magnetic latch design simplifies the process of changing the filter cartridge, making maintenance virtually effortless for healthcare professionals.
Compact and Efficient Design: Designed to be compact and efficient, the Pūrgo is roughly the size of a carry-on suitcase (24.5 in x 17.0 in x 10.0 in), yet powerful enough to meet the air quality safety standards of hospitals.
Our Process
As a trusted partner, our team at Advanced Concept Studio played a pivotal role in supporting AeroClean throughout the product development journey. From requirement definition and concept development to detail design, validation testing and manufacturing support, we collaborated closely with AeroClean to bring the Pūrgo from concept to reality. Our expertise in navigating complex technical challenges and our commitment to innovation were instrumental in realizing AeroClean's vision for the Pūrgo. Building functional bench top prototypes was instrumental to validating the airflow performance prior to laboratory testing. After validating the design we combined dozens of parts into a single robust structural foam injection molded core that integrated the Steriduct and provided mounting locations for all of the components and housings.
